Ayurveda & Shadow Work for Women’s Healing and Balance
Ayurveda and Shadow Work may appear to come from vastly different traditions—one rooted in ancient Indian medicine, the other in Jungian psychology and inner transformation. Yet, when woven together, they offer a profoundly holistic path of healing for women, one that bridges the wisdom of the body with the depth of the psyche.
Both systems invite us to meet ourselves where we truly are—not where we think we should be.
Reconnecting to the Body: The Ayurvedic Invitation
Ayurveda teaches us that every woman has a unique makeup that reflects the way her body, mind, and emotions naturally function. When we disconnect from this inner rhythm—through conditioning, trauma, or a lifestyle that doesn't serve us—our body speaks through imbalance, symptoms, and emotional distress.
But to hear her whispers, we must listen.
In a recent experiential session with Ayurvedic Practitioner Veena Kumari, we explored how simple practices of self-inquiry through the senses, emotions, and cravings can reveal what is truly out of balance. It was less about identifying our dosha type and more about recognising the sacred intelligence of our lived experience.
What emotions are surfacing?
What foods are we drawn to or repelled by?
What patterns are repeating?
Where do we feel out of balance in our body?
Ayurveda helps us decode these signs as sacred messages, nudging us back toward our true nature.
Shadow Work: Facing the Inner Fires
At the heart of Shadow Work is the call to confront and integrate what has been denied, disowned, or hidden. It is the work of reclaiming power from the unconscious.
For many women, deep emotional imprints from childhood—like jealousy, shame, or fear of judgement—become embedded in the energetic body and manifest as physical symptoms. In my own journey, I saw how my fear of being seen was linked to a Pitta imbalance: an internal fire turned against itself.
Ayurveda gave me a deeper understanding of how certain emotional patterns were affecting my body and wellbeing.
Shadow Work gave me the tools of emotional integration.
Together, they helped me understand that these energies weren’t mine to carry—but they were mine to transform.
Why This Integration Matters
Too often, women are told to fix the symptoms without exploring the soul behind them. Ayurveda tends to the vessel. Shadow Work tends to the unseen forces within it.
When brought together:
We stop suppressing and start sensing.
We replace bypassing with embodiment.
We take radical responsibility for what we carry—and what we are ready to release.
Your Body Is Already Speaking
If you paused right now, what would your body say?
What does she need to feel safe, seen, supported?
What pain is she carrying that belongs to the past?
Where are you out of alignment with your truth?
Ayurveda and Shadow Work don’t give us answers. They give us tools.
They offer a compass to navigate the inner terrain. They remind us that every symptom has a soul story. And they bring us back to a truth we often forget:
You already hold the wisdom. Your body remembers the way.
With love,
